How many shots does it take to get a kill in BF3?
We have all heard this statement of a variation of it: It takes half a clip to kill someone in non-hardcore.
But is it actually true or just hyperbole?  Well you be the judge.  Let’s go to the video tape.

Nice video.  Therefore submitting a motion to strike the phrase "half a clip to kill someone" and say instead, "ARRGH, it takes half a clip to get 3 - 5 shots on target, etc etc."

And Duke, I doubt people will say that, too much to remember.  We should rephrase it to, Argh, I can't aim!  lol!!

Or better yet, for those of us willing to go the extra mile: Argh, I seemed to have shot all of my fast-moving projectiles towards the enemy.  However, it seems that most of them have gone awry, thus his body has only absorbed a small fraction of damage.  Ergo, I must work on my bullet spacing and recoil management!

I'd like to test the damage done by snipers too - Do you guys know if range has an effect on damage?

I'd like to submit that softcore takes more hits to kill than you can really do in a single accurately aimed burst. There lies the problem. You either go two bursts, and by the second one they often are in cover already, or you go full auto and can't hit jack. I don't care so much about the actual number of shots as people having too much time to react when they get out maneuvered. Whats really fun is softcore often forces you to reload in the middle of wiped a squad that you came upon facing the wrong way. It just feels like the wrong dynamic.

it is very possible, with the M98 rifle, at range I was doing 2 shots a kill, up close it was 1 shot per kill. 

I have every sniper rifle unlocked, i could help test if you guys want.

I can shoot people in the stomach at close range with the M98 and it kills with one shot...it also fairly often kills in 1 shot at range...haven't used it enough to notice if it takes more than 1 shot or if I am just missing the other times when it takes 2 etc.
