I went with this one
http://reviews.logitech.com/7061/291/logitech-extreme-3d-pro-reviews/reviews.htm

Heard good things about it. Sounds like they take some time to configure though.
Enjoying yours?

If you haven't tried flying with just the keyboard- no mouse, using WASD and arrow keys- give it a decent shot. I was easily able to max out my jets and am working on my helis when the opportunity presents itself.

dont know about that one but i will say i gave up on logitech products because they have major driver issues and there support really stinks. most of there stuff for windows 7 has to run in compatability mode (windows 2008 server) and admin as well and then still issues seeing hardware correctly sometimes. i bought that thrustmaster 1600m and seem to be haappy with it so far, i can fly better now. one thing you have to do with some of these is open the driver console and run a script once created while you are in game and everything is fine, it did take me about a good hour to set up for the game once installed. basically i just picked a script that came with the hardware then run the script and then go into game and bind the joystick keys, you have to run script everytime you play, i dont know if logitech works that way but hope that helps.

talking with some folks in vent last night we got it figured out and I can use the stick fine now, you have to go in and remove any and all associated mouse/keyboard bindings because the joystick will over ride them. Then clear all bindings for choppers/jets and then go thru and redo each button to a function.
Kind of a pain but it does work and I am able to fly now, was having a blast last night!

I tried flying with a mouse for the first time last night (since BF2). Some of you were lucky enough to see me gracefully plow into the crane. Time for some empty server practice, at least until I can get a good stick.

Wow so, flying is hard even with a joy stick. I found an empty server that starts with only 1 player by searching for 'practice' then I started doing some runs to blow up buildings and fuel tanks. But I still keep hitting light poles and such unless I start really high. This is going to take some practice.....

I am using the Logitec one as well (same as Spudsters) and I agree it takes quite a while to get it working but once you have it, it is way better than any KB or Mouse option.  I used the "Logitech Profiler" software which allowed me to revers the axis before entering the game.  That helped alot for those of you struggling with reverse axis in game.  Spudsters is right, you need to clear all bindings that are related to joystick except the ones that you need for flying.  Otherwise they will interfere with onfoot, and in vehicle modes.  Good luck!.

I use the CH Products stick, throttle, and pedals since I like flying choppers hardcore.  Very good and durable products that are programmable.  Others use the XBox controller and PC mapping software to fly, very nice and comfortable and might be easier to control than a 4-axis controller like mine.

well i ended up with the thrust master and i really like it, you do have to run a script with it though, its really easy and not a resource hog.

I have a saitek ST290 pro that i have had for a while. I need to set it up for jet flight though it seems that dice really improved the flight controls on helis because i could never fly one with anything keyboard and mouse or joystick in previous BF games. I do well with keyboard and mouse for helis in bf3 so i may stick to that

Mid 90's microsoft sidewinder pro ftw, its so old it has the joystick port to usb converter. Cant beat it for button layout or precision though, and its lasted though years of mechwarrior and flight sims.
