So I just got a joystick and have been trying to get some experience flying. I've only shot down one helicopter with my heat seekers so far. Does any body have tips on how to approach or circle the map to get behind other planes/helicopters? I seem to just be randomly sweeping across the playing field hoping something crosses my path and it's just not working.
Also sometimes it seems other helicopters can lock on to me before I can lock onto them, why is that?
My other problem is that when I do find another plane to follow its so hard to match their path and speed that they loose me. Maybe I just need to practice following another plane. Any tips on that?
Favorite key bindings etc?
I've been watching a lot of youtube videos and they all make it seem so easy.

Chasing planes is a great way to get practice. Find someone willing to help you, find an empty server, and play cops and robbers. That's how I learned back in BF2, Jokerdan was a great teacher! Once you get the basic chase down start playing with speeds, turns, rolls, dives, etc. If I had a joystick I would give you a hand. Maybe Santa will bring me one.
