NEED ! Sniping tips for long range
« on: November 06, 2011, 07:12:13 AM »
Im trying to go for long distance hits , but the problem i got is that ,Im hitting them but not killing them so I see my shot and its seem to land on the guy (white dot that travels) So im guessing im off abit maybe too low or too high but after firing over 30 shots at one guy , no hit . I tried everything to hit him .He was on a side of a mountain with nothing blocking my view . The shot was if I had to guess about 550 to 650 feet(aircraft carrier to the side of the mountains)  . any tips ? Im using bipod and 12x scope with a silencer but the silencer would weaken the shot .

take the silencer off. Walk the shots in,aim a head higher than you normally would and just keep shooting into it walks it to a kill.

Im shooting from the bottom on the scope to reach him . So my cross hairs are about 2 or so inches (rl measurement ) his head . So aim then shoot then move forward a bit and shoot again ?

exports - it could be a map issue, I used to have this problem with BC2 (when the game worked) where I would see a guy halfway across the map, I'd let loose with my GOL and i'd track the bullet all the way to his head, I could never figure out why it wasn't hitting him until I got up and started walking over there trying to see what was going on, the problem was the game wasn't rendering properly so even though I could see the guy and I was shooting at him, he was actually behind a pretty large rock and was firing off to his side (around the rock) and I was trying to shoot him thru it because until I got close enough the rock wouldn't render.

My suggestion would be to go back to that map and get up to where you think he was and look to see if it's the same as how it looked from the boat.

the problem is there is no set place to aim.
one thing i love about this game is that they take distance, elevation,  plus velocity of bullets into consideration.

add in to that the fact that adding a silencer slows the bullet down now it wont travel as far or even as straight

ditto to this one I love the bf games specifically because of the realism

I take in distance plus elevation and I also track the bullet too . I will try without the silencer , just the mortar are a gay as it can get . The Silencer on hardcore is the only thing so you dont show up on the mini map .

I move around too much too get too comfortable in a spot, but when I do go static, one method of zeroing in is to predict where you might see an enemy, fire, look for the impact, and do the mental math for the elevation change based on where your round lands---that helps me out sometimes especially if my target zone where I test the impact has multiple possibilities for peekers. just my two cents.
I'm on a boat c1

Also the "clear" vieuw isnt allways a real clear vieuw. rocks and other cover attend to disappear with certain angles/distances/settings.
Just like the others said, shoot and watch ur bullet drop so u can adjust ur aim. 1 tip for a slow(walking, running) moving target, shoot as much infront of the target as ur aiming above it, fast moving targets is a whole difrent ballgame.
You will get the "feeling" just keep trying and u will headshot all of us :)
